Hazardous Materials Instructor Course
A 5-day comprehensive course enabling delegates to develop the skills and confidence to deliver basic Hazardous Materials training to the crews.
The course is aimed at instructors who will share the knowledge and skills learnt during this course with the first responders to enable them to respond to common incidents involving hazardous materials until a fully trained Hazardous Materials Advisor arrives.
The course focuses on commonly encountered hazards such as acetylene, asbestos, corrosives and more. The training outlines each stage of the Initial Operational Response (IOR) from Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) selection to how to safely decontaminate.
There is no requirement to have the knowledge of science or maths to attend the course.
The Hazardous Materials Instructor course (HMI) is recognised by the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE); The only regulated Awarding Organisation in the UK that specialises entirely in the fire sector.
